Image Searching

Another way to find images is through the categories Ditto has set up for the images. Categories include Animals, Current Issues, Nature, People, Space, plus more. The home page also shows current searches; it's fun to see what things other people are looking for. Here is an example from the Space/Earth category

This first image is the thumbnail entry in the category page. As you can see, you can click for more details and also click to see the image on its source URL page. (Sometimes these are dead links.)

Image Entry in Category

When you click on the detail link you get more information about the image.

More Information about Image

The site is super easy to use. You can set up your own "MyDitto". You can recommend a URL for Ditto.com to crawl for obtaining images. You can upload your own images.

Ditto.com says it takes reasonable efforts to exclude pornography. I did not see any, but then I didn't try to find it either. If you do find an offensive image in the results of one of your searches, Ditto.com asks that you email them with the image's URL so they can take look into the matter.

Important: The images you find in Ditto.com are still kept on their respective sites. Moreover, the images on Ditto.com are not in the public domain. All photos retain their original copyright (if any). Each image has an originating URL. Follow that URL to contact the photo's owner if you would like to use the photograph. Please don't just take copyrighted images!
